Wuddy’s and Watch Straps??
I know I’ve talked about my 9-year old daughter and her appreciation for watches. She’s really into the fact that she can enjoy the artistic aspect of watches but more importantly, she can participate and wear watches too and feels like a part of the watchfam. Because she is! It’s not about age or collection, it’s about appreciation. So when I started meeting up with friends in the watch community, while a bit shy, she’s been more and more eager to tag along.
While that hasn’t happened yet, she enjoys when I talk about a few of them that I’ve had the opportunity to meet. James, Andrew, and Conor have all been great fun to hang out with, talk watches, spending limits, impacts to relationships if you don’t talk about major purchases…that’s not me we’re talking about…he knows who he is. But my daughter is living vicariously through me on this one. Her greatest contribution to the social media part of this world has been her invention of a new word for us watch folks. She’s done what any smart and funny kid does and combined two words into one that is so apt and fun that it seems to be catching hold on the social media platforms too. She’s combined “watch buddy’s” into wuddy’s. Simple, funny, and to the point.
It’s fun to use it in a sentence:
“My wuddy’s and I went watch shopping.”
“My wuddy’s are going to loan me money for a new Rolex.”
“Are your wuddy’s coming over to the house, again?!?”
The sky’s the limit when it comes to how you want to talk about your most prescious of friends in the watchfam!
