Thanks for hanging in there. I know it’s been a while since my last update, but life’s been moving quickly. I’ve started a new job recently, and learning a new routine while trying to do well in a new role has meant writing took a back seat for a while. That said, I’ve finally been able to carve out the time to sit down and catch up. I’m grateful to all of you who continue to subscribe and read Watchcology. Your support means a lot, and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow this space with you.
As always, you can find more regular updates over on Instagram at @watchcology — thanks for following along.
Trading Up and Letting Go
While I’ve been enjoying the heck out of my 40mm Rolex Explorer lately, I’ve also started to make a few changes to the collection. I recently let go of some older MoonSwatches and also sold my Lorier Neptune. I loved that watch, but it just wasn’t getting the wrist time it deserved — so off it went to a new home. I’ve always had a soft spot for tool watches, so I wouldn’t be surprised if something from Rolex or Tudor eventually fills that gap.
What’s Next? (Spoiler: I Don’t Know Either)
Lately, I’ve been deep in the weeds thinking about what the next piece might be — and let me tell you, it’s been a mental tug-of-war.
Speedmasters have been calling to me — specifically the white-dial versions, FOIS, Racing editions, and even the DSOTM. They’re all so different and speak to different moods and price points. Sometimes I think I’ve figured it out — maybe the classic Moonwatch is all I really need. But then I change my mind and dive into a new rabbit hole. Clearly, I need more time with Omega to find what actually clicks.
If you have a Speedy story, I’d love to hear it — drop a comment or message me. It’s always helpful to hear what worked (or didn’t) for others.
Of course, my eyes occasionally wander into more dangerous territory — like a Daytona or even a Vacheron. But that’ll be a conversation with my better half once her schooling is done and we’ve got a little more room in the budget for what I lovingly refer to as my “bad habit.”
Writing for ABTW
One of the highlights recently was getting the chance to contribute to a couple of Watches & Wonders articles with the ABTW team. First, I wrote about the 36mm Patek Philippe perpetual calendar, which is a stunner — and proof that smaller can still be mighty. I also covered the new Tudor Pelagos Ultra, which hit close to home since the Pelagos was my first “luxury” purchase and remains one of my favorite pieces. Tudor, in my opinion, is one of the best brands in the game right now. Their catalog is diverse, their quality is excellent, and they’ve been putting out steady releases year-round.
You can check out everything I’ve written so far for aBlogtoWatch here. Shout out to Ariel and the whole team — it’s been a joy to contribute.
Podcasts, Projects, and Pre-Orders
I’ve been keeping up with the community through podcasts lately. James’ show The Timist is a Friday favorite — he’s a thoughtful host with consistently great guests. I’ve also been catching up on That Watch Podcast, and I want to give a special shoutout to my friend Matt over at @pandlwatchcollection. Matt’s recovering from a recent work injury, and I’m so glad to see him up and about again. Wishing you a full recovery, Matt — glad you’re still posting and staying connected with the community.
On the preorder front, I’ve got a couple watches in the pipeline that I’m excited for. Darren from Sher Watches — also known as @diversewatchcollector — has a release coming up that I snagged (one for each of the kids!). I also ordered the upcoming Connemara from Martin Design. Preorders are always a bit of a waiting game, but there’s nothing quite like forgetting you ordered a watch and then having it show up like a mid-year Christmas surprise. Massive congrats to both Darren and Martin — love seeing people invest in themselves and turn their passion into something tangible.
Looking Ahead
Next up, I’m aiming to be more consistent with writing again. I genuinely love doing this — and even more so, I love helping others get into the hobby or deepen their appreciation for it. I’ll also be covering more pieces as they come in from brands, which is always a highlight for me.
Most recently, I spent some time with the Bangalore Watch Company and really enjoyed my time with the Mach 1. That subtle pink tone in the dial? Total standout. I’m excited to see what they bring out next — it feels like they’re just getting started.
And looking ahead, I’m thrilled to be partnering with Dryden Watch Co. soon as well. They’re a brand worth keeping on your radar: great watches, unique dials, and some really well-done straps to round it all out.
Whether you’ve bought a new piece, let one go, or are just enjoying the ride, I’m always glad we get to share this space. Leave a comment, drop a message, or just say hey — I love hearing from fellow collectors and enthusiasts.
Looking forward to the next piece!
– Adam
Glad to have you back Adam! On the Speedy side I recommend you check out some older versions, who knows your dream one might be there! And on the idea front, you should write about trading up, personally I'm a bit of a hoarder, but I do want to know someone else's experience!
Welcome back and I'm excited to read more of your writing! Omega is one of those brands that can see you interested with all the variations and the lore behind the Speedy. Have fun with it.
